This bit of fiction is a little bit of a joke, based on a well documented bug from the Thieves Guild storyline in Skyrim, which locks the character Brynjolf into a single line of dialogue that he repeats ad nauseam.
It's a new year! Full of opportunity! Sorry, I was channeling Marcus for a minute there. All right, focus, back on track. 2019 has seen itself out, and 2020 has slid in like the fresh-faced new kid in an anime who's so excited to be thrust into whatever insane adventure awaits them. 2019 was a... As this Season wraps up, I find myself looking back at the Forsaken expansion and ruminating on what it did, what it tried to do, and where it could have done better.
I was one of the early adapters. I bought Anthem on pre-order, I played the Beta. I was lucky in that I didn’t have any of the hard crashes or significant glitches that others had experienced but the game was still a little rough. It was fun, though.
Hello, dear readers! Welcome to the inaugural post of A Man Wrote This, where we look at different volumes of geekery that said something so absurd and glaring about women that it caused me to set the book down, roll my eyes, and go, "A man wrote this." Simple, yes? But so amusing. Join me... Continue Reading →
Anthem is a looter shooter that combines the third person shooter experience with the action role playing experience, to varying degrees of success. Taking place in Bastion, a country lacking in details on an unnamed planet, the name Anthem refers to the Anthem of Creation, a supernatural force of unknown power and origin that feeds dangerous relics and creates strange beasts. I could write a long article about why and how, but suffice it to say, after I'd played it, I could not have been more eager for Final Fantasy VIII. Imagine my surprise when that wasn't the next game in the Final Fantasy... Continue Reading →
Growing up, I remember important gaming decisions, made by my sister and myself, that addressed and overcame our preconceived notions about certain games. For example, when The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker was coming out in 2003, my sister, one of the biggest Zelda fans ever, hated the concept. The art design was way... Continue Reading →
Now, some people are doubtless going to argue with me on this one. I hear you. Milon's Secret Castle . . . a windfall? I never beat this game. I never even came close. It was way too hard. I didn't know anyone that even had the game, and those of my friends brave enough... Continue Reading →
I read a well-researched, fascinating article the other day titled "Tales of an aging gamer: Why don’t I pick up a controller as often as I used to?", by Theo Karasavvas. I highly suggest you read it before you read this article, but if that's tl;dr for you (too long; didn't read), I'll try to... Continue Reading →
