As this Season wraps up, I find myself looking back at the Forsaken expansion and ruminating on what it did, what it tried to do, and where it could have done better.
Anthem: Game of Potential
I was one of the early adapters. I bought Anthem on pre-order, I played the Beta. I was lucky in that I didn’t have any of the hard crashes or significant glitches that others had experienced but the game was still a little rough. It was fun, though.
TroubleGMR’s Favorite Video Games: Final Fantasy Tactics
Final Fantasy VII is one of my favorite games of all time. I could write a long article about why and how, but suffice it to say, after I'd played it, I could not have been more eager for Final Fantasy VIII. Imagine my surprise when that wasn't the next game in the Final Fantasy... Continue Reading →
80s and 90s Gamer Windfalls: Milon’s Secret Castle
Now, some people are doubtless going to argue with me on this one. I hear you. Milon's Secret Castle . . . a windfall? I never beat this game. I never even came close. It was way too hard. I didn't know anyone that even had the game, and those of my friends brave enough... Continue Reading →
Adventures of a Lady Gamer: Am I Immune to Aging Out of Gaming?
I read a well-researched, fascinating article the other day titled "Tales of an aging gamer: Why don’t I pick up a controller as often as I used to?", by Theo Karasavvas. I highly suggest you read it before you read this article, but if that's tl;dr for you (too long; didn't read), I'll try to... Continue Reading →
TroubleGMR’s Playing: Monster Hunter: World: Behemoth, A Team Effort
At long last, Behemoth! Console players got him last August, but as of December 21, we PC Monster Hunters finally get the opportunity to have a go at the iconic Final Fantasy monster. I can't tell you how much I've been looking forward to this. I got even more excited about it after the Monster... Continue Reading →
2019: Game On
The Cartographer's Guild wishes you all a Happy New Year.
TroubleGMR’s Playing: Monster Hunter: World: Arch-Tempered Kirin vs. Arch-Tempered Vaal Hazak
The Arch-tempered monsters are starting to make their way to the PC release of Monster Hunter: World (and by the time this article publishes we'll have Behemoth, the Final Fantasy XIV crossover. YES!!!). Arch-tempered Kirin has come and gone-- don't worry, he'll be back-- and until December 27th, we get to take a crack at... Continue Reading →
Flights of Fancy: Dragon Warrior, Part 5
Well, here we are! I've mostly tended to be very accurate in this story to the Nintendo game Dragon Warrior, but Gwaelin's homecoming is finally where I fudged a little bit. I mean, carrying her right into the throne room, filthy and disheveled? How undignified! I think no one will mind a little added romance.... Continue Reading →
TroubleGMR’s Playing: Monster Hunter: World: The Prepared Player’s Guide to Kulve Taroth
Whether you are new to the series or just jumped aboard since the latest game, Monster Hunter is a game that requires both skill and patience. Yes, there is a grind involved for gear. No, this grind is not required for you to enjoy the game, it's perfectly playable if grinding for loot isn't your... Continue Reading →
